Santa Barbara native Lizette Rubio is vying to reach the semifinal round of LaVoz US, the Spanish-language version of The Voice, and needs your vote.
Rubio, a San Marcos High School graduate currently living in Ventura, is one of 28 contestants left on the hit Telemundo TV show that started out with nearly 10,000 contestants.
On Sunday night’s show, she performed “Someone You Love” as part of rapper and reggaeton superstar Wisin’s team.
“I will win this competition with her voice,” Wisin exclaimed during the broadcast.
Voting for the latest round ends at 5 p.m. Monday, but Rubio will need to be the top vote-getter from fans and the public in order to advance.

“Although she’s our champion already, it would be wonderful to see her go on to the next round and finals,” her aunt, Mari Hernandez, told Noozhawk.
In 2013, Rubio was one of a dozen finalists in the “Rising Star” contest, a solo singing competition from the producers of the popular Teen Star program and hosted by the Chumash Casino Resort.
