Santa Barbara is witnessing an incredible partnership that is positively transforming the lives of children fighting pediatric cancer. The Santa Barbara Trapeze Company(SBTC), in collaboration with the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF), is using trapeze flying lessons to foster resilience, courage, and social-emotional skills in these young warriors.

At Plaza Vera Cruz Park, families from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties are coming together for this unique initiative. The Santa Barbara Trapeze Company provides a safe and thrilling platform for kids to conquer their fear of heights and overcome the challenges they face during their cancer journey. Over the last four weeks, through trapeze flying classes, these young warriors have discovered their inner strength and built the confidence to confront life’s adversities.

But this collaboration is not just about empowering the cancer fighting children; it’s about strengthening families as well. Siblings of the cancer fighters were also invited to participate in the weekly trapeze classes, turning these sessions into meaningful family bonding activities. The joy and support that the siblings bring to the classes create a positive and uplifting atmosphere, making the experience even more enriching for everyone involved.

Shane Weaver, co-founder of SBTC, has been actively engaged in working closely with these young warriors on a weekly basis. He has personally witnessed the remarkable growth and unwavering courage displayed by these kids as they conquer their fears and embrace the challenges of trapeze flying. According to Mr. Weaver, “Their newfound sense of confidence is truly evident and fills us all with joy and excitement.” Randy Kohn, the owner of SBTC, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Being part of their journey towards empowerment is a privilege. Witnessing their resilience has been a truly inspiring experience and we have loved having them at the rig flying with us!”

By offering opportunities for social-emotional learning and fostering a sense of community support, this partnership equips these young warriors with resilience and grit that will serve them throughout their lives.

Santa Barbara Trapeze Co. extends a warm invitation to the community to join them and the TBCF community in supporting this noble cause. Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation has been a relentless advocate for families in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties facing childhood cancer. Together, we can make a difference and empower these brave children to soar above their challenges.
