A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with two robberies and a shooting that occurred late Wednesday night in Isla Vista.
Jackson Kyle Jue of Isla Vista was taken into custody late Thursday night in Concord in the Bay Area, according to Kiki Reyes, a UC Santa Barbara spokeswoman.
He was arrested on a warrant alleging attempted homicide, robbery, and assault, Reyes said.
It is not known where Jue is in custody, or whether he has been returned to Santa Barbara County.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of El Colegio and Los Carneros roads.
They found a young woman with a gunshot wound on the ground on the bike path near the Santa Ynez Tunnel, according to Karen Cruz-Orduña, a Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokeswoman.
The shooting victim was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, but her name and details on her condition have not been released.
Alerts sent out by UCSB to the campus community Wednesday night indicated one robbery occurred on the 6500 block of Cervantes Road, while the second one was related to the shooting.
No further details about those incidents have been provided.
The UCSB Police Department referred all question about the shooting and robberies to Reyes, who on Thursday said she could provide no information.
According to emergency radio traffic, the UCSB police put out a “be-on-the-lookout” alert on Thursday for Jue, who was believed to be armed and driving a 2015 Subaru Outback.
According to the alert, Jue is a resident of the Tropicana student residence hall in Isla Vista, where investigators reportedly found a bag with numerous weapons after talking to his roommate.
Investigators also reportedly recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
It’s not known whether Jue is a student at UCSB or Santa Barbara City College.
Reyes said Jue’s arrest was a result of a collaboration between the UCSB Police Department, the UC Berkeley Police Department, the city of Concord Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Task Force.
