A Santa Barbara man is serving a months-long jail sentence after pleading guilty to engaging in multiple sex acts with a teenage girl more than 20 years ago.
Peter Aibor Jeschke, 52, was sentenced last month after pleading guilty to two counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a person 14 or 15 years of age, and two counts of oral copulation on a person under 16 years of age, according to Lauren M. Franco, deputy district attorney.
Jeschke, a tennis instructor and former local high school coach, was arrested in February 2024 by Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies.
Prosecutors alleged that in 2000, Jeschke committed multiple sexual crimes against the girl, who was identified in court as Jane Doe.
“Jane Doe was 15 years old when she met the defendant, a then-26-year-old tennis instructor and coach in Santa Barbara and Montecito,” Sarah Barkley, deputy district attorney, said at the time of Jeschke’s arrest.
“The defendant allegedly engaged in numerous sexual acts with Jane Doe when she was 15 and 16 years old.”
Jeschke’s guilty pleas were not part of a deal with the District Attorney’s Office, Franco said.
Superior Court Judge Von Deroian sentenced Jeschke to two years of probation, along with a five-year prison sentence that was suspended, Franco said.
“Should Jeschke violate any terms of his probation, the judge has indicated she will give him the five years prison,” Franco said.
Deroian also sentenced Jeschke to 280 days in the Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was in custody on Saturday.
In addition, Jeschke was ordered to register as a sex offender.
Prior to his sentencing, Jeschke had been free on $100,000 bail.
A 10-year criminal protective order was issued on behalf of Jane Doe, Franco said, and Jeschke was ordered not to have contact with any person under 18 years of age.
At the sentencing, Jane Doe made a victim-impact statement, detailing the negative effects Jeschke’s actions have had on her life.
Online Santa Barbara Superior Court records show that Jeschke has previous convictions, in 2009 and 2011, for sex acts with a minor and other charges.
He received probation in the first case, and was sentenced to state prison in the second. He also was ordered to register as a sex offender.
