The Santa Ynez Valley Chorale, now under the direction of David Lozano Torres, will present its Spring Concert featuring Broadway hits, 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at the Solvang Veterans Memorial Hall, 1745 Mission Drive.

Tickets are $15 in advance and are available on www.syvchorale.org, through Chorale members, at the Book Loft in Solvang, or for $20 at the door.

“We are pleased to present our Spring Concert, Dream the Impossible Dream,” Torres said. “With Broadway showstoppers from the heartfelt ‘Journey to the Past’ from ‘Anastasia’ and ‘Bring Him Home’ from ‘Les Misérables,’ to the memorable medleys of ‘Phantom of the Opera,’ and ‘The Lion King,’ the chorale takes you on the journey of iconic characters as they face personal growth and self-discovery through hardships.

“We are reminded that we are capable of so much more as long as we continue to dream the impossible dream.”

Torres has a BA in music with a conducting emphasis and a master of music in choral conducting. He is completing his doctoral of musical arts degree in choral conducting at UCSB.

“The Santa Ynez Valley Chorale has been a cultural part of the community for over 40 years. This spring we are excited to provide a memorable and inspirational program for the entire community,” said Casey Bemis, chorale president.

The Santa Ynez Valley Chorale is a nonprofit community organization that presents annual concerts in the spring and during the holiday season, and is available to sing by request for special events and holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Fourth of July.
