Three people have been arrested in connection with a double shooting that killed a man and injured a woman in Lompoc last year.
At approximately 7:38 p.m. June 12, 2022, officers from the Lompoc Police Department were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of East Prune Avenue, Sgt. Vincent Magallon said.
Officers located Joseph Lujan, 43, of Lompoc and a 56-year-old female in a residence’s carport.
Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds. Lujan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she recovered and was eventually discharged.
On Tuesday afternoon, the lengthy ongoing homicide investigation led police to arrest three suspects in connection with the shooting, Magallon said.
During the investigation, detectives developed information that led to arrest warrants being obtained for three males.
Two of the suspects were already in custody on unrelated charges, and the third was arrested at the Lompoc Police Department on Tuesday.
Arrested was Jonathan Garcia, 20, along with a 19-year-old male who was 17 at the time of the shooting and a 16-year-old male who was 15 at the time, police said.
The names of two suspects were not released because of their ages at the time of the crime.
The suspects were booked on suspicion of murder, assault with a firearm and allegations of personal use of a firearm.
