The 3-year-old girl who was struck by a vehicle on State Street over the weekend remained in critical condition on Monday, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.

The child, whose name has not been released, was crossing the road with her family in a marked crosswalk shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday when she was hit by the vehicle, which was eastbound on State Street, police said.

The toddler received emergency treatment at the scene before being taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She was later transferred to a specialized hospital.

The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and was not cited or arrested, Cmdr. Nathan Beltran told Noozhawk.

“At this time, drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision,” Beltran said, adding that the investigation was continuing.

Police have not released the driver’s name.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to benefit the injured child and her family. As of Monday afternoon, it had raised $15,683 of a $30,000 goal.

Additional information was not immediately available.
