Emma Sturm, a sophomore at Santa Barbara High School, has founded Together We Dance, a program that provides free virtual dance classes to children with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Classes, conducted via Zoom, are for children ages 3 years and older and take place every weekend and Fridays. Although Together We Dance is based in Santa Barbara, classes are open to any child in the U.S. (All class times are PST.)
No dance experience is required — just kids who are looking to have fun. Dance classes will allow students to develop skills in musicality, movement and rhythm. While developing these skills, students will also have a chance to make new friends, play games, and dance to their favorite songs.
Sturm’s goal is to bring children with developmental and intellectual disabilities together through dance. Sturm loves dancing and working with children, and hopes to bring happiness to a child’s day.
Parents can register their child through Sturm’s website togetherwedance.org and complete a registration form. The class Zoom link will be emailed after registration is completed.
