The UC Santa Barbara Office of Education Partnerships will presents its first Fall Undergraduate Research Showcase, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at UCSB’s University Center (UCEN).
The showcase is a platform for undergraduate students’ research projects from the Central Coast K-16 Regional Collaborative, featuring participants from UCSB and local community colleges.
Students will present their research posters and deliver lightning talks to motivate prospective students in their academic journeys.
Attendees will engage in admissions sessions and workshops that offer opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and students from community colleges and UCSB.
Participants also will gain insights from UCSB Admissions and Transfer representatives; participate in discussions with transfer and graduate students; and explore interactive tours of campus research labs.
Additionally, a dedicated UCSB Undergraduate Leadership Workshop will be facilitated by staff from various programs, affinity groups, and UCSB student organizations.
The Fall Undergraduate Research Showcase is designed to highlight the achievements of undergraduates from low-income backgrounds who are the first in their families to obtain a bachelor’s degree, and are often underrepresented in higher education.
The event is part of the Central Coast K-16 Regional Collaborative, a partnership between Community College, California State University, the University of California, and industry partners focused on addressing educational and economic disparities in the Central Coast region.
