The school year is just around the corner, and Noozhawk’s ParentNooz After School Activities Guide is officially here and we made sure to make things easy when planning your child’s after school activities! Our 2019 After School Activities guide provides you and your child with all the necessary information when deciding on which after school program is the best fit.

To give parents the tools to help make informed decisions about after school programs for their kids in Santa Barbara, Noozhawk has conducted a series of interviews with representatives of local programs for this year’s After School Activities Guide.

In this interview, Noozhawk sat down with Dylan Jones, Assistant Coach at UCSB Baseball, to learn more about their after school program here in Santa Barbara.

A:  6-13.

Q: When was your program started and what was the inspiration for creating it?

A: The program was started 5 years ago and was inspired to help the youth baseball players around the Santa Barbara Area. It is a great opportunity to work with Gaucho players and coaches as well as use the UCSB baseball facilities.

A: This is a baseball specific program that is centered around development and the proper instruction of skill used in baseball. It encompasses all skill levels and promotes an enjoyable experience for young baseball players.

A: We have stuck to our roots and focus on the basic skills, but have also expanded with the constant growth of youth baseball. We try and blend the right amount of skill training and fun, competitive experiences.

Q: What is the average program size or class size for your activity? Teacher to student ratio?

A: It is educational in the fact that we are constantly teaching the game of baseball. The game of baseball also teaches us a lot about life skill. The two go hand in hand.

Q: What is the cost/tuition? Are scholarships available?

A: The cost will be $20 a session. There are two session a night. Session 1 is hitting and session 2 is pitching/catching.
