The Wildling Museum of Art and Nature has elected five new members and one returning member to its Board of Directors.
Artist Holli Harmon of Goleta was appointed in 2020 to fill a vacated seated and will serve through 2022.
In 2018 Harmon was one of the artists of The Rivers Journey exhibit, which explored the watershed of the Santa Ynez River through paintings. She recently volunteered her time to create The Nature of Clouds installation in the Wildling Museum’s new Tower Gallery space and now chairs the Exhibitions and Art Committee.
Sam Cohen, government affairs and legal officer for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, brings experience and connections to the Wildling, after serving on numerous other professional and nonprofit boards and committees including the EconAlliance of North County and Santa Ynez Chamber of Commerce.
Belinda Hart of Solvang retired from a San Francisco investment advisory firm to pursue art. She brings financial experience, a love for the arts, strong local connections, and has served on other boards including the South Coast Repertory Theatre, and sat on the Economic Roundtable of Chapman University.
Dr. Susan Plummer of Santa Ynez is the recently retired director of the Santa Barbara Alliance for Living and Dying Well, and prior to that was the director of a certified hospice program. She is also a licensed psychotherapist and has had her own private practice for 25 years.
Robert Lilley retired from a 30-plus year career as professor, research engineer and director of the Avionics Engineering Center at Ohio University. He moved to Santa Barbara in 1997. Lilley’s second retirement was from Northrop-Grumman in 2016, although he still consults in aviation electronics and navigation.
Lilley and his wife Ellen also founded and manage The Graduates, a nonprofit social group.
Rejoining the Wildling board after a brief hiatus due to term limits is Gail Persoon of Carpinteria. Previously, she served for multiple terms and as secretary, a post she has resumed. She is a past president for Girls, Inc. of Carpinteria. She and her husband Johannes own orchards in Carpinteria.
