Earl Minnis Presents and Jazz at the Lobero will present Bill Frisell GOOD DOG, featuring Greg Leisz, Tony Scherr and Kenny Wollesen, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara.

Frisell’s career as a celebrated guitarist and composer has spanned some 40 years and numerous recordings. He has a long history with Scherr, Wollesen and Leisz, separately and as a group.

Now, after more than two decades, Grammy-winner Frisell reunites with some of his closest musical brothers to perform an assortment of magical pieces from “Good Dog, Happy Man.”

An acclaimed jazz artist, Frisell’s catalog has been cited by Downbeat as “the best recorded output of the decade.”

He is the subject of a documentary film by director Emma Franz, “Bill Frisell: A Portrait,” which examines his creative process in depth; as well as an extensive biography by Philip Watson titled “Beautiful Dreamer: The Guitarist Who Changed the Sound of American Music.”

Frisell is a featured special guest on recent albums by Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Charles Lloyd, John Zorn and Allen Toussaint’s final recording. His latest double trio + orchestra album “Orchestras” was released last April by Blue Note Records.
