The cuisines of North India have arrived on State Street.

Lovepreet Singh has opened Indian Tandoori Kingdom at 1026 State St. in Santa Barbara.

Singh, born in India, learned to cook at Flavor of India in Studio City.

Singh was looking throughout Los Angeles and the South Coast before deciding on the current spot.

“I like the location here,” Singh told Noozhawk. “There are so many people on the streets.”

Singh, who is the manager and chef, said he specializes in North Indian cuisine.

Some dishes include Seekh kabob, tandoori chicken, tandoori shrimp and curry thahli, with a focus on chicken, lamb and fish.

The restaurant opened March 18. One of the attractions is the computer-generated art of India on the wall, created by Singh.

Singh moved to the United States in 2015.

He loves State Street, he said, because it attracts locals and tourists.

The restaurant is located at the former site of Oppi’z and Palazzio’s Italian Restaurant.

Yummy Thai is now serving in the Goodland.

The restaurant opened in February at the former site of Pattaya at 5918 Hollister Ave., Suite B in Old Town Goleta.

Longtime Goleta residents will remember when the large restaurant space housed Alex’s Cantina, a popular dance hall and nightclub.

The interior has been redesigned with new floors and paint and an elevated decor.

The site is currently vacant and formerly was home to Verizon and Johnny’s Greek Deli.

Vuori is currently at 733 State St.
