Pour some sugar on me.

Extreme doughnuts are headed for the Goodland.

“We like to bend the rules on doughnuts, see what we can come up with and how extreme we can get,” said Laura Krause, executive creative baker at SloDoCo. “We have over 100 doughnut options to choose from every day, plus a rotation monthly menu.”

The latest business to open its doors in Goleta is SloDoCo, a San Luis Obispo-based doughnut shop. The company is moving into 290 Storke Road, the former site of Ortho Mattress. It expects to open in late summer.

SloDoCo was founded in 2010 by husband and wife Jacob and Jessie Pickering. They met at a doughnut shop, and their love for each other — and doughnut shops — “bloomed from there,” Krause said.

The company has three other locations — two in San Luis Obispo and one in Atascadero.

“Our doughnuts are fun, delicious and beautiful, to say the least,” Krause said. “We offer custom doughnuts, which are popular for weddings, birthdays, baby showers.”

She said people can give them a theme and they will go with it.

SloDoCo had been looking to expand outside of San Luis Obispo County, and “Goleta seemed like the perfect place,” she said.

“The location and city are beautiful, and we are so excited to finally sink our feet into the growing area,” Krause said.

The interior of the store is under construction, but the couple hope to open by late summer.

Los Arroyos Celebrating Anniversary

Chef Tony Arroyo opened the first Los Arroyos Mexican Restaurant & Take Out on March 4, 1999, and the company is celebrating its 25th anniversary next month.

“What started as a dream has grown into a legacy of delicious food, warm hospitality
and strong community connections,” Tony Arroyo, owner, chef and founder, said in a statement. “I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our customers, the dedication of our hardworking team, and the amazing community that has embraced us over the years.”

The first restaurant opened in 600 square feet, at 18 W. Figueroa St. in Santa Barbara. Now, there are five locations — three in California and two in Indiana.

Bibi Ji Moving

Indian restaurant Bibi Ji is moving, but not far away.

The Santa Barbara restaurant is moving from 734 State St. to 1213 State St.

“Our last day of service at 734 State St. will be March 10 before we take some time off to move equipment, train and put all the finishing touches in place,” the company said in an email to its subscribers. “Come get your curry fix before then or you will have to wait.”

The company also stated, “All of your favorite menu items are staying with the addition of new specials, an expanded wine list, plus some serious style upgrades.”

Namaste Moving

Downtown Santa Barbara retailer Namaste is moving from 922 State St. across the street.

“Excited to do some retail deals on State Street,” Caitlin Hensel of Hayes Commercial Group wrote on Instagram. “Welcoming long-term downtown retailer Namaste to their new home at 911 State St. We represented the landlord on this transaction and thank you.”

Big Funk Zone Deals

An entire city block in Santa Barbara has changed hands.

Brian Kelly, a Funk Zone developer, purchased six parcels between Yanonali, Santa Barbara, Mason and Grat streets, for $19 million.

“Excited to see what his vision entails,” Caitlin Hensel of Hayes Commercial Group wrote.
