The Santa Maria High School Agriculture Department, FFA officers and ag teachers opened the 2026-27 school year with their Annual Staff Ranch Breakfast.
During the Friday morning event, more than 50 students prepared food and welcomed hundreds of staff members and some district office employees.

Held in the newly modernized agriculture department on the Santa Maria High campus, the breakfast included an omelet bar, breakfast burritos, farm fresh fruit, muffins, and coffee.
“Being able to help put this event on together with my peers and advisors has been such an amazing experience from helping hands on, to talking with staff and administrators about what they do,” said Daniah Baez Alvarado, Santa Maria FFA Chapter reporter.
“It has truly shown me a deeper appreciation for all they do to help support Santa Maria FFA and help us grow,” Baez said.
“Our annual staff breakfast is a great opportunity for FFA members to connect with our SMHS teachers and staff,” said Shannon Powell, ag teacher.
“This year’s breakfast wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our local agriculture industry, who donated the fresh produce and other products,” she said. “We are very grateful for their partnership and dedication to the Santa Maria FFA.”
The Santa Maria Join Union High School District has some 2,700 FFA student members.
