In advance of predicted El Nino storms, the Santa Ynez Chamber of Commerce will present a free workshop on flood preparedness, 8:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Santa Ynez Community Services District office, 1070 Faraday St.
Team Rubicon from Ventura County will be conducting the workshop, which will provide training on sandbag filling, directional stacking, structure protection, practical applications, and safety considerations.
Attendees will be provided with sandbags to fill and take home.
Workshop participants are asked to bring personal protective equipment including gloves, and face and/or eye coverings for filling the sandbags.
Team Rubicon is a volunteer humanitarian organization trained in disaster mitigation and community preparedness.
