Santa Barbara band The Doublewide Kings will headline an outdoor concert, 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Elings Park for the second year. The band is joined again this year by guitarist Jackson Gillies.

The program, called Local Vibes, features area artists troubadour rocker Johnny Irion, singer-songwriter Arwin Lewis, and teen duo Scarlett & Amelia.

Scarlett & Amelia, a budding duo from Laguna Blanca School known for their vocal blend, will open the evening’s show.

Advance general admission tickets are $29 for adults and free for children under 12. Buy tickets online at www.elingspark.org/events/kings. Parking is limited and costs $10 per car. Ridesharing is encouraged. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Attendees are asked to bring blankets or low-backed chairs for seating. Food trucks will be on-site but outside food is allowed. No outside alcohol is permitted. Dogs are not allowed, including the Park’s EPDOG members.

The Doublewide Kings group blends original works, acoustic Americana music, and classic rock favorites. The five-member band is known for strong vocal harmonies and a sound produced by a blend of acoustic and electric guitars.

This season, the Kings will make a return appearance with the Santa Barbara Symphony at the Granada Theatre in a program dedicated to the music of The Band, following last year’s tribute to Van Morrison. Visit www.doublewidekings.com.

Gillies, a singer-songwriter and guitarist, won the 2016 Teen Star USA talent contest and appeared on “American Idol” in 2019.

He performs solo acoustic, with a trio, and with a Grateful Dead cover band. He has appeared with Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, and Jim Messina in fundraising concerts.

Gillies’ debut album “High & Low” was released in April.

Irion will perform a solo opening set and join the Kings for a few songs. He started his career in punk rock but later embraced roots music. He has collaborated with Pete Seeger and Wilco.

Irion’s fourth studio album “Sleeping Soldiers of Love” features Jeff Bridges, and Mike Mills of REM. It was released on Aug. 5.

Lewis is known for her soulful voice, folk, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, and SoundCloud podcast.

Lewis is the granddaughter of Oscar-winning actress Loretta Young and the daughter of Peter Lewis, of the 1960s psychedelic band Moby Grape. Her 2015 debut album featured interpretations of her father’s songs. Her latest EP “Under the Stars” was released in April 2023.
