Garden Street Academy’s Upper School students will present “Sweeney Todd School Edition.” The show runs Tuesday, March 17 through Thursday, March 19. Performances start at 7 p.m. in Garden Street Academy’s Black Box Theater.

In Steven Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – School Edition,” Sweeney Todd — wrongfully imprisoned by a corrupt judge — returns to 19th century London with a vendetta.

Aided by the help of Mrs. Lovett, the down-on-her-luck owner of a failing pie shop, the pair scheme a way to exact revenge and reinvigorate the pie shop with a new secret ingredient that has the people of London lining up.

“Sweeney Todd is a complicated show, and we are incredibly proud of the professionalism our cast has been demonstrating through the rehearsal process,” said director Brittany Harter. “We want the audience to feel the unease that comes with a production of this caliber, and we can’t wait to share this exciting and bloody process with audiences.”

Featuring a live band and raw student talent, the show promises to deliver the chaos and carnage of the full musical edition.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased through the school office or at the door. For tickets, contact the school office, 805-687-3717 or admissions@gardenstreetacademy.org.
