As a young man, I looked at people my present age as quite ancient. Well, many in this world these days seem to be living considerably longer than they did in the mid-20th century.
These days, young people may well consider me quite ancient. But in reality, some of my best years may still lie ahead!
As I await what God has planned for the rest of my life, I’m truly looking forward to living life more fully. Yes, there’s no doubt I’m well into the fourth quarter of a long productive life.
You may have an extensive bucket list. Not this guy. Each day I arise, I look forward to new and interesting experiences.
Life can seem complex, but it can also be quite simple and still exciting. With age, we all naturally pace ourselves and assess life from a new perspective.
Living life more fully has become a way of life for me in recent years. Don’t get me wrong — I cherish each and every day, and thank God for each and every breath I take.
As I seriously consider making the transition from my 40-year insurance career, the possibility of new ventures excites me.
Whether God takes my writing involvement to a new level or He has something totally new planned for these final years here on this planet, I know His hand is in it — whatever it may be. I trust Him implicitly.
Let’s take a closer look at you! Are you striving to live life more fully?
I’m not talking about bucket lists, but developing relationships that will bring a new dimension to the rest of your life. We are made in God’s image and our Creator wants to have a close, intimate relationship with each of us.
And, He wants us to not just love our pets, but people. Don’t get me wrong, caring for dogs and cats and horses and reptiles is fine, but not nearly as fulfilling as caring for our human brothers and sisters.
Throughout Scripture, we find stories of our Maker and human beings, His ultimate creation, drawing closer and drawing apart from their God.
We need to understand that God does not move, but we certainly do in all our relationships.
To me, relationships are what life is really all about. As a young boy, I had no close relationships since my military family moved every few years. Perhaps you can relate.
To me, living life more fully means having more close relationships than ever and ultimately reaching the pinnacle of relationships with my Savior and Lord in Heaven.
In the meantime, we simply need to settle on developing deeper relationships with His people as God places them in our individual and corporate paths.
Let me end by sharing these special words found in Hebrews 10:24-25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Yes, the Day of the Lord is drawing nearer every day, and we’d all be wise to committing to living life more fully!
