Pioneer Valley High School’s Center Stage Theatre and Dance Company is pulling out all the stops with the musical comedy “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” 7 p.m. Oct. 2-3 and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at the campus Performing Arts Center.
As an added attraction, Broadway star Anthony Rapp will make a special guest appearance at the opening night show.
Rapp is best known for his role as Mark Cohen in “RENT,” both on Broadway and in the 2005 film.
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” offers a heartwarming and humorous look into the world of Charles M. Schulz’s beloved “Peanuts.”
The story revolves around the characters of Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and Snoopy as they navigate life’s challenges, including friendship, love, and the trials of growing up.
“Getting to play Charlie Brown is such a wonderful opportunity,” said Nicholas Davis. “I always loved reading the comics and watching the specials. It’s wonderful getting to play that iconic character with all of my friends. I hope every one loves the show as much as I love it.”
“Our students have dedicated their entire summer to preparing for this production, and their excitement is contagious,” said teacher Selyn Barrette Harwin. “They cannot wait to share their work with both the third- and fourth-graders of the Santa Maria Bonita School District during our special student performances, as well as with our evening audiences.
“Seeing them bring joy to our community while inspiring the next generation of performers is one of the greatest rewards of this work.”
