Allan Hancock College hosted two of its Hancock Hello student orientation events at both its Santa Maria campus and Lompoc Valley Center in August, attracting more than 1,500 new students and their parents.
Hancock Hello events are designed to welcome students and introduce them to the college’s resources. The first orientation was held Aug. 1 at Lompoc Valley Center; the second on Aug. 8 at the Santa Maria campus.
“Hancock Hello is a great opportunity for students and their parents to learn about all the tools and support available to help them succeed,” said Kevin G. Walthers, Hancock superintendent/president.
“It’s also a chance for them to meet our faculty, staff, and their fellow Bulldog students,” he said.
Both events featured workshop sessions in English and Spanish, covering such topics as financial aid, tips for college success, and how parents can support their college-going children.
Attendees were also offered a guided tour of their respective campuses, and they could visit information booths to learn more about student clubs, college academic programs, and student services.
Registration for fall credit and noncredit classes at Hancock remains open. Fall classes begin Aug. 14. To register for fall classes, visit www.hancockcollege.edu/fall/.
