Lobero LIVE presents AJ Lee and Blue Summit, with special guest Salty Strings, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at the Lobero Theatre.
“Award-winning, energetic, and technically dazzling, the band has quickly become one of the most exciting forces on the national roots music scene,” Lobero LIVE said.
Originally from Santa Cruz, California, the group met as teenagers, picking and jamming together at local bluegrass festivals before deciding to become a band.
“Nearly a decade of touring later, AJ Lee & Blue Summit have built a devoted following with their infectious musicianship, youthful spirit, and dynamic approach to bluegrass,” organizers said.
The band features AJ Lee on mandolin, Jan Purat on fiddle, Sullivan Tuttle on guitar, and Sean Newman on bass.
Their critically acclaimed third studio album “City of Glass” was released by Signature Sounds in 2024, followed in 2025 by “Cover to Cover V.1,” a collection exploring the wide-ranging musical influences that have shaped their distinctive sound.
From Gillian Welch’s “Tear My Stillhouse Down” to a bluegrass-infused take on New Riders of the Purple Sage’s “Glendale Train,” Cover to Cover V.1 showcases the band’s deep roots and adventurous musical spirit.
Santa Barbara’s Salty Strings is a five-piece string band s”etting out to transcend the boundaries of traditional bluegrass music,” according to Lobero LIVE.
Sprinkling in notes of Latin and reggae, the untraditional band showcases fast-picking originals and old-timey favorites.
“You can often find them playing their instruments along a coastal bluff as the sun is setting, their strings ever so salty,” organizers said.

Ticket prices are $75 for premium seating (premium ticket includes preferred seating location and a pre-show reception in the Lobero Courtyard with complimentary drinks and light bites, beginning an hour prior to showtime); $40 for Section A; $30, Section B.
