The Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District will host its State of the Schools event, 8:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at the library on the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School campus, 2975 E. Highway 246, Santa Ynez.
The event is intended to provide community members with an update on the current state of the school district and the work taking place across Santa Ynez Valley Union High School.
District leaders and students will discuss district priorities, goals, finances, facilities, and student programs and achievements.
Topics will include academic programs and student outcomes, athletics, activities, the arts, career and technical education, college and career opportunities, campus facilities, and the district’s plans for the future.
The program will include factual information regarding Measure D, the district’s school facilities bond measure appearing on the November ballot, including proposed facility projects and how bond funding would be used if approved by voters.
“This is an opportunity for our community to come onto our campus, hear directly about the work taking place at Santa Ynez, and learn more about both our accomplishments and the needs we are planning for in the years ahead,” said Superintendent Kimberly Sheehan.
“Our high school belongs to the entire valley, and we want our community to be informed about our students, our programs, our facilities, and the District’s priorities for the future,” she said.
The district will note recent accomplishments and recognitions, including Santa Ynez High School’s designation as a 2026 California Distinguished School, and its recognition by U.S. News & World Report among its Best High Schools.
The State of the Schools event is open to anyone interested in learning more about the district.
