Santa Barbara County reported 120 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, boosting its average during the past week to more than 100 cases a day.
Of the 827 tests reported, roughly 15 percent were positive, according to the county Public Health Department.
That boosted the county’s seven-day rolling average positive-test rate to 10.5 percent.
The Santa Maria Valley — including the city, Orcutt and unincorporated areas — accounted for nearly three-quarters of the new cases with 88.
Santa Barbara added 11 cases, Lompoc reported eight, the Goleta Valley had four and the Santa Ynez Valley had two. Geographic locations were pending on seven cases.
COVID-19 patients being treated in local hospitals dropped to 73 from 75, but those in intensive care units edged up to 25, which represented the most thus far in the pandemic.
No new deaths were reported Saturday, with the county’s total remaining at 31.
Of the 4,051 COVID-19 cases reported in the county, more than 90 percent of the patients have fully recovered.
Nearly 70 percent of the county’s hospital medical/surgery beds were occupied on Saturday, including almost 65 percent of intensive care beds.
Only 29 percent of the 180 available ventilators were in use, including 18 for COVID-19 patients.
