The Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment (SCAPE) and the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) will cohost Images of Our Maritime Community, an exhibit and sale of fine art, Wednesday and Thursday, July 24-25, at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, 113 Harbor Way.

The free event will be held 1-8 p.m. July 24, with a reception 5-8 p.m.; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 25.

The event, a benefit for SBMM, will feature the work of more than 150 artists and their views of the ocean, coastal vistas and Santa Barbara’s maritime life. Artwork may be viewed and purchased online at sbmm.org/public-events/scape. Additional artwork will be available at the show.

SCAPE was founded in 2002 and has grown to more than 200 members, a diverse group including nationally known and local artists, students, patrons and gallery owners. Membership is open year-round to anyone who wants to participate.

SCAPE’s goals are to have exhibits to help raise money to protect open spaces, increase public awareness of environmental and conservation issues, promote camaraderie, and provide education for artists. The group has 2-3 juried exhibits every year.

To date, some $100,000 has been raised to benefit local nonprofit beneficiaries including the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Channelkeeper, and Heal the Ocean.

The July 24 reception will feature wine, appetizers and live music. For more information, contact SBMM, visit SCAPE online at www.s-c-a-p-e.org or call 805-687-7123
