The County Public Health Department announced Wednesday that the state-run COVID-19 test-to-treat centers at Direct Relief in Goleta and at the Santa Maria Fairpark will be closing on Feb. 2.

These sites allowed people to get tested for COVID-19 and — if positive and eligible for treatment — receive a prescription for treatment medication from an on-site healthcare provider, which could also be filled at the same location.

While these test-to-treat sites are closing, other testing sites are still available free of charge across the county.

Some of these locations include the testing trailer at 267 Camino del Remedio in Santa Barbara — which will resume operations on Jan. 23 — the Health Care Center at 301 North R Street in Lompoc, and at the Santa Maria Health Care Center located at 2115 Centerpointe Parkway.

The state ran six COVID-19 testing sites in the county at one point, and previously closed the Goleta Community Center and Buellton sites in December 2021.
