
Grammy-nominated Bayou Blues guitarist-vocalist Tab Benoit will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29 at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. Canon Perdido St. Blues trio GA-20 will open the show.
Benoit is nominated in four categories for the 2025 Blues Blast Music Awards: Rock Blues Album, Blues Band, Male Blues Artist, and Electric Guitarist of the Year.
“I Hear Thunder” was released last August on Benoit’s Whiskey Bayou Records label. His first new album in 13 years, it soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart last September.
“Ain’t no rhythm like a Bayou Stomp,” Benoit sings on ‘The Ghost of Gatemouth Brown,’ and he proves it on this, his first studio album in thirteen years,” writes Rock & Blues Muse. “It’s all displayed throughout these sizzling ten tracks that capture Benoit at his most, well, thunderous.”
Benoit’s journey began in 1992 with a radio hit from his debut record “Nice and Warm.” Since then, he has received multiple Blues Music Awards and four Grammy nominations.
Beyond music, Benoit is applauded for his years of activism, particularly concerning the Louisiana Wetlands and coastal erosion.
