Santa Barbara Public Library and Partners in Education invite community members to enroll in an internet safety course and receive a free computer.

The course, to be offered in English and Spanish, and the computer give-away will take place Wednesday, April 12 at the Eastside Library, 1102 E. Montecito St.

Patrons must attend the internet safety course in order to receive the free computer, which they can keep for personal and professional use.

The computers also serve as a tool to support children in their schooling, according to Partners in Education, which prepares students for the world ahead through business, school, and community collaboration.

The internet safety course covers such topics as cyber-bullying, phishing, privacy settings, and enabling parental controls.

Registration is required to ensure enough computers will be available for distribution. Register by April 10. To reserve a free computer, register on the library’s calendar.

For help registering, call or visit any Santa Barbara Public Library branch.

The English course and computer distribution will be 5-6 p.m.; the Spanish course and computer distribution will be 6-7 p.m.
