The Toronto Blue Jays selected UCSB catcher Aaron Parker with the 187th overall pick in the 6th Round of the 2024 MLB Draft on Monday.

Parker became the third Gaucho to be drafted in the 6th Round after pitchers Matt Ager and Ryan Gallagher were taken by the Pirates and Cubs, respectively.

The slugger exploded in the 2024 season on his way to a First Team All-Big West selection after he was an All-Conference Honorable Mention the season prior.

This past spring, Parker led the Big West champion Gauchos in batting average (.379), on-base percentage (.460) and slugging percentage (.632).

He also ranked among the top five hitters in the Big West in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, RBI, home runs and runners caught stealing.

Parker will take his hitting prowess and his strong arm behind the plate into a solid Toronto Blue Jays organization.
