Unity Shoppe will hold its annual Back-to-School Drive, July 1-31. The drive aims to collect new school items to be distributed in August, giving low-income children in the community the opportunity to start the school year on the right foot, Unity said.
Unity Shoppe is asking community members to donate new school supplies, such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, other essential items, and monetary donations to help ensure every child is equipped for success.
Donations can be dropped off at Unity Shoppe locations or through the website throughout July.
Yellow Donation Boxes can be found in town at Old Navy, the Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Montecito Fire Department, Carpinteria and Summerland Fire Department, and Santa Barbara and Santa Maria County Sheriff’s Offices.
“We believe every child deserves a fresh start to the school year, regardless of their financial situation,” said Angela Miller-Bevan, executive director/CEO at Unity Shoppe. “With the support of our generous community, we can significantly impact the lives of many children and families.
“We are grateful for the financial support we’ve received so far,” she said. “Every dollar helps us provide more resources and support to the children who need it most.”
Unity Shoppe has received a $2,000 donation from Arturo’s Barber Shop and SB Barber Supplies that will go toward purchasing school supplies and supporting.
Arturo’s Barber Shop is also providing 250 free haircuts to children in need. Vouchers for these haircuts will be available at Unity Shoppe cash registers on a first-come, first-served basis.
