What I’m observing these days is a dramatic shift in the lives of our young people. It’s been going on unnoticed for some years at least, but the real movement became news with the Sept. 10 assassination of Turning Point USA president Charlie Kirk.
Kirk courageously oversaw the operations of his dynamic Christian organization for the past 10-plus years and has now been succeeded by his widow, Erika.
It seems a perfect time to talk about what committed Christians need to do moving forward in this new environment caused by current events here in America.
“Be Strong, Be Brave, Be Bold” turns out to be a topic deserving more than I can possibly cover in one essay.
So, initially we’ll simply address our Strength in the Lord. That’s where we Christians need to go to find our true strength.
After the death of Moses, the Lord confronted Joshua with these words in Joshua 1:6-7:
“Be strong and courageous because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe the laws my servant Moses gave you: do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.”
Here’s my observation on these words. They are meant for every follower of Christ — not for Joshua alone!
We all need to know that God has a plan for us during the short time we are on this planet. It’s very easy to sit back and live a somewhat comfortable life and simply focus on our own success rather than being in the spiritual battle that continues to be played out as we casually live our lives.
What a shame to be unaware of what God’s Word presents to all believers.
Kirk, his widow and many in Turning Point USA are bravely in the trenches in our universities and high schools, training many future leaders to catch the vision of a more perfect union and following God’s perfect and pleasing will for our lives.
So where are you in this movement? I’ve chosen to be in the battle, even though many will consider me too old to be of much value to the movement.
What I hold onto is my knowledge of Joshua and Caleb and the strength in the Lord they displayed in the Promised Land even though they were in their 80s.
The Holy Spirit gives me the strength and He is available to all followers of Christ. All we need is simply ask the Lord how He wants us to participate in the ongoing spiritual battle right here in our local community perhaps.
God Almighty has given us certain gifts for such a time as this. We don’t need to be on the front lines, but I’m certain He has a special assignment that you will fit into nicely.
Whether we like it or not, we have all been called as Christians to answer the tender and loving call of our Savior and Lord.
Consider it pure joy to serve our Risen Redeemer.
