“Heroes,” an Olivier Award-winning play by Gerald Sibleyras, will be performed July 19-28 at Center Stage Theater in Santa Barbara.

Translated by Tom Stoppard, the play takes place in 1959, focusing on three World War I veterans, each still struggle with their wartime experiences.

Gustave has PTSD, Henri has a severe leg injury, and Philippe has a neurological disorder. They also remember their wartime as some of their best years.

The three want to change their mundane post war lives and relive some adventures, even if the adventures may be somewhere between the Indochina peninsula and traversing a nearby hill.

The play features Ed Giron, seen locally most recently in the “Gin Game; ” Bill Waxman, who wrote the “Sorrow Cart,” which premiered at Center Stage Theater; and Van Riker, seen in multiple productions at the Garvin and Alcazar theaters.
