Chaucer’s Books will host New York Times bestselling author Antwone Fisher (“Finding Fish”) for a talk and signing of “Reflections Beneath the Buckeye Trees: Notes From a Life,” 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 9 at 3321 State St., Santa Barbara.
“Written with honesty, warmth, and quiet wisdom, these reflections examine family, friendship, identity, forgiveness, service, and the search for belonging,” Chaucer’s said.
In “Reflections Beneath the Buckeye Trees: Notes From a Life,” Fisher shares a collection of personal stories and reflections drawn from a life marked by adversity, resilience, discovery and gratitude.
Traveling from the streets of Cleveland, Ohio, to the decks of Navy ships, from family struggles to professional success, Fisher explores the people, places and moments that helped shape the man he became.
Rather than following a strict timeline, the book invites readers to pause and consider the lessons hidden within ordinary moments and extraordinary experiences alike.
“At once deeply personal and universally relatable, Reflections Beneath the Buckeye Trees is a testament to the power of memory, perseverance, and hope — and a reminder that our lives are often shaped as much by what we overcome as by what we achieve,” according to Chaucer’s.
In addition to being a book author, Fisher is the screenwriter of the acclaimed film “Antwone Fisher,” directed by Denzel Washington.
A U.S. Navy veteran, educator, and speaker, Fisher has spent decades encouraging young people through storytelling and service. He is the founder of Glenville House Press.
