The Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara will present two concerts featuring the music of Spain., 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church at 1500 State St., and 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at Presidio Chapel.

The Folk Orchestra, the only one of its kind in the United States, has been performing for local audiences for five years, celebrating a different part of world music with each show.
Tickets are available for both shows and can be reserved at https://folkorchestrasb.com/.
“This is one of my favorite types of music,” said Adam Phillips, Folk Orchestra founder and arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. “We get to play some beautiful traditional Spanish songs using our wonderful local musicians, plus I get to play my gaita, which is the Spanish form of the bagpipe.”
From the flowing arpeggios of the Spanish guitar to the sounds of the gaita, and the rhythms of Andalusia, Spain has a rich history and diverse folk music traditions.
The 30-plus musicians in the Folk Orchestra, all of whom are Santa Barbara area community members, will explore it all in the two-hour show, complete with traditional sing-alongs.
Previous Folk Orchestra programs have highlighted music from Irish, Scottish, Nordic, Mexican, and English traditions, along with trips back to classic 1960s hits and other visits to the Americana songbook.
“Bring some friends and make an evening of our shows. We promise you’ll never hear anything else like it,” Phillips said.
