As the Granada Theatre’s centennial celebrations continue, audiences are invited to experience a combination of top Santa Barbara singers and musicians in concert, 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1214 State St., Santa Barbara.
Six solo vocalists, Morganfield Burnette, Miriam Dance, Jackson Gillies, Hunter Hawkins, Lois Mahalia and Tina Schlieske will be joined by singers Leigh Vance and Angela Michael.
They will be backed by local musicians, led by world-class guitarist and Granada Board member Tariqh Akoni, together with Santa Barbara bassist Randy Tico, and featuring jazz saxophonist Tom Buckner, guitarist David Delhomme, George Friedenthal on keyboard, multi-percussionist Miguelito Leon, drummer Herman Matthews, and trumpeter Jim Mooy.
Part of The Granada’s Centennial On Stage series, the program features two 45-minute sets with a cabaret-style atmosphere.
A dance floor will be situated right in front of the stage, allowing guests to dance and share the experience up close to the musicians and vocalists.
Each of the six lead singers will perform three songs across various genres and styles from gospel/pop to rock ‘n’ roll.
Hawkins provides her folk/pop stylings, Gillies brings a pop/bluesy flair, and Burnette will delve into the blues.
