Meighann A. Helene, Santa Barbara Center for Art, Science and Technology (SBCAST) artist in residence, is celebrating her five-week residency at the center with a public interactive multimedia exhibit called Organic Matters, 7-10 p.m. July 5, at SBCAST, 513 Garden St.

Featured in the show are Helene’s 3D printed installation and collaboration with artist Jon Smith — Feminan — and select pieces from her Rusted/Pewtered series.

The family friendly hands-on display will include music by DJ Gryphn, belly-dance performers, projections by Tracy Beeler, and Alan Macy’s Haptic Floor experience along with his Biometric Campfire installation.

As Helene has been serving as producer for director Ted Mills’ upcoming feature film Rondo Gumbo, the production crew will be on-site shooting a scene.

Indian food by Namita’s Cuisine will be available for purchase.

Helene is a multi- and interdisciplinary artist and performer. She holds AA degrees from SBCC and a BA in cognitive science with an emphasis/minor in design and perception from UC Berkeley. She is a member of the TVSB Board of Directors; the Fishbon Advisory Board; and is a commissioner for the Richmond Arts and Culture Commission.

She currently works for IBM Data and AI in communications management.
