Let’s wrap up this extensive discussion on The Submissive Leader’s Secret Sauce.
What we need to understand is this: the Enemy wants to keep us from effectively serving our Lord. He will do whatever he can to distract us from our role as submissive leaders.
Even if we lead just one or two or three willing followers of Christ, he will do whatever he possibly can to wreak havoc in our lives. You see, he vehemently hates the Lord!
Here’s what we must do first in realizing the seriousness of the Lord’s marching orders. We also need to fully understand what the writer in Hebrews 10:35-39 presents so eloquently for our benefit:
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, ‘He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.’ But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.”
We’ve already gone over those ingredients that make up the secret sauce available to all who confidently follow Christ. Now we simply need to persevere and not faint as some will unfortunately do.
I’ve witnessed it on the battlefield of life. Here’s what the psalmist, King David, has proudly proclaimed in Psalm 20:7: “Some trust in horses and some trust in chariots, but we trust in the name of the Lord.”
Hardly a day goes by without God placing one or more people in my path these days who seem open to talking about certain challenges in their life.
Yes, I do have several fishing holes (meeting places) where we can easily carry on a short conversation about the ups and downs of life. You see, I would prefer to be out and about meeting with people rather than sitting behind some electronic device carrying on business.
I’ve always liked meeting people face-to-face and learning what makes them tick. Here’s what the Apostle Peter says about meeting others in the marketplace in 1 Peter 3:15-17:
“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”
Let me unpack this for you as I sense Peter’s heart for God and those God places in our paths.
My decision to accept Christ as Savior and Lord happened when I was the ripe age of 40. The Holy Spirit apparently had His eye on me for quite a while!
He’s given me a new heart for others who question His existence. Often, He allows me to plant seeds and occasionally He allows me to see Him work in the lives of these lost souls.
He’s calling some of you out there who have read these essays to actually take up your cross and become true Ambassadors of Christ right where He’s already placed you in the marketplace.
His mission field is right in our own backyard and the fields are white for harvest.
Maranatha, come soon, Lord Jesus!
