Carrillo Recreation Center will host its popular monthly comedy series Carrillo Comedy Night on Friday, May 10. The city of Santa Barbara has partnered with professional comedian Jason Love to produce a night of laughter with new lineups every month.

The May 10 show features Flip Schultz, who performs on Norwegian Cruise Lines and a contributing writer for Pablo Francisco, Jamie Kennedy and Dana Carvey’s new Netflix special.

Performing to sold-out audiences, Carrillo Comedy Night brings nationally touring headliners to Santa Barbara the second Friday of every month. Shows start at 8 p.m. in the foyer, doors open at 7:15 p.m. at 100 E. Carrillo St.

“We’re thrilled with the turnout so far,” Love said. “We’ve even had the pleasure of entertaining Santa Barbara’s two most famous Johns — Cleese and Palminteri. I know it’s impolite to drop names. Paul McCartney told me that.”

Schultz has entertained the troops in more than 20 countries and had a feature role in the movie Big Trouble. He will be joined by Laura Hayden, who can be heard daily on Sirius XM. Hayden also appeared on TV Guide Channel’s Standup in Stilettos.

“People have been so happy with the quality of comedians that Jason brings through,” said Carrillo Rec Center staffer Georgina Ornelas. “It’s like seeing a show in Vegas, only clean.”

Host Love has appeared on HBO and Last Comic Standing, and spends much of the year performing on cruise ships. His nonprofit Love & Laughter brings free shows to cancer support communities in Calfornia.

He runs monthly shows in Buellton, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Simi Valley and Westlake Village.

Carrillo Comedy Night tickets are $15 at Carrillo Recreation Center or at www.jasonlove.eventbrite.com. More information is at 800-895-1742. Other upcoming shows are June 14, July 12 and Aug. 9.
