On a beautiful late-spring night, Ringo Starr shared the evening with his All Star Band — Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Edgar Winter, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart and Gregg Bissonette — at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre last Friday.
It seems to be a magical combination with Starr and his band. Just as the stars were shining over Vina Robles, so were they on stage.

Ringo kicked off the night with some of his hits to the liking of “Matchbox,” “It Don’t Come Easy” and “What Goes On,” followed up by Winter with “Free Ride.” Lukather (Toto) gave a crowd-pleaser with the classics “Rosanna” and “Africa,” Hay (Men at Work) with “Down Under” and Stuart (Average White Band) with “Pick Up the Pieces.”
One of the highlights of the evening was Winter performing his musical masterpiece “Cut the Cake Frankenstein, and as the night went on, it was hit after hit with “Octopus’s Garden,” “Photograph” and “With a Little Help From My Friends.”
Starr and his All Star Band complemented each other with their immense talent. In rating this concert between one and 10, I would give it a 10.
Thinking about all of these performers with their musical achievements and awards would be too numerous to mention — platinum, gold or Grammy awards — but I say bravo to such a tight-knit group of musicians.

In closing, I would say that the Vina Robles Amphitheatre is one of the great venues on the Central Coast — the perfect size, not too big or small. Attendees can purchase lawn tickets, and those who desire can have a glass of wine with a brick oven pizza. What a great way to enjoy a concert.
