The SBCC Theatre Arts Department will present a student showcase production of “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley” Nov. 12-22 in the Jurkowitz Theatre, SBCC West Campus, 900 block of Cliff Drive.

Written by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon, and directed by Katie Laris, the play is a sequel to Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.”
Set two years after the novel ends, “Miss Bennet” continues the story of the delightful Bennet sisters with a gathering of the family at Pemberley (where Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth now live) for a holiday celebration.
Centering on the slightly bookish middle-sister Mary, who fears she’ll always be alone, the play delivers several Christmas miracles, including an unexpected guest who may just be the intellectual match for whom Mary has dreamed.
“Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley” will feature student actors Josephine Brooks, Tristan Fleming, Zachary Johnson, Ximena Mejia, Gigi Oliff, Camille Quien, David Rose, Charlie Schurmer, Yildiz Soyal, and Piper Steen.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 16 and Saturday Nov. 22.
The 2 p.m. show on Sunday Nov. 16 will be live-captioned for those who need hearing assistance.
Ticket prices are $20 general; $17 seniors (62+); and $10 SBCC staff/students.
Tickets can be purchased online, or by calling the Box Office, 805-965-5935. Due to the intimate nature of the Jurkowitz Theatre, no late seating is permitted.
