A man accused of a shooting and two robberies in Isla Vista earlier this month pleaded not-guilty Friday to seven felony charges.

Jackson Kyle Jue, 20, of Isla Vista entered the pleas in an appearance before Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge Thomas Adams, according to Senior Deputy District Attorney Tate McCallister.

Jue, a Santa Barbara City College student, was ordered to return to court April 28 for a preliminary hearing setting, McCallister told Noozhawk.

The criminal complaint filed by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office accuses Jue of attempted murder, second-degree robbery, attempted second-degree robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, and carrying a loaded firearm.

The complaint also includes several special allegations that would increase Jue’s sentence upon convictions.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 10:30 p.m. on March 19 to the intersection of El Colegio and Los Carneros roads.

They found a young woman with a gunshot wound on the ground on the bike path near the Santa Ynez Tunnel.

The college-age woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

She has since been released from the hospital, McCallister said.

Jue also is accused of attempting to rob an adult male on the 6500 block of Cervantes Road, as well as the shooting victim.

He was arrested March 20 in Concord in the Bay Area.

According to emergency radio traffic, the UCSB police put out a “be-on-the-lookout” alert for Jue, who was believed to be armed and driving a 2015 Subaru Outback.

According to the alert, he is a resident of the Tropicana student residence hall in Isla Vista, where investigators reportedly found a bag with numerous weapons after talking to his roommate.

Investigators also reportedly recovered the firearm used in the shooting.

SBCC spokesman Jordan Killebrew confirmed to Noozhawk on Friday that Jue is a student at the college.
