When you get to be my age, lifetime warranties have limited value.

Then again, they may also be limited by the financial health of the company and product being offered. Warranties and guarantees in general are only as good as the entity offering them!

The True Lifetime Warranty

And, if the product does not satisfy our expectations, we may well decide to not replace it as well. There’s only one lifetime warranty worth its weight, and it’s truly priceless.

Of course, I’m referring to God’s offer of an intimate, personal relationship with Him available to anyone willing to follow His conditions.

All He requires is our acceptance of His gift that He gladly provided to humankind nearly 2,000 years ago, when His only Son was crucified for our sin.

Yes, Jesus took on the past, present and future sin of the world for our sake. He paid the ultimate price on the cross.

The Coming Judgment

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. In Genesis 6 you can read about the depravity of humankind in those days.

In Genesis 6:9-10 we read, “This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.”

Only Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives survived the great flood along with the many animals God placed on the ark built over a 120-year period.

Imagine the obedience to take on such a task for such an extended period of time. That ark in essence was their ticket out of a cruel and vicious world and a new beginning for future generations.

Noah lived in extremely wicked times, and God was greatly grieved by the people of those days. I imagine He’s greatly grieved by much that goes on these days as well!

Yet He has provided an escape for those who will surrender to Him before He once again destroys this planet as we know it.

The Apostle Peter presents a powerful prophetic picture in 2 Peter 3:7. “By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.”

Peter continues in verses 8 and 9, “But do not forget this one thing dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Once again, He will give the heavens and earth a spiritual cleansing — only this time the purification will come through fire rather than water!

If you are looking for a real lifetime warranty, perhaps these words penned by the Apostle John nearly 60 years after Jesus walked on this planet will persuade you to gladly receive His eternal gift of salvation.

In 1 John 2:24-25 we read, “See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us — even eternal life.”
